Oreto
Oreto is a site-specific work about the Oreto River in the artist’s hometown of Palermo.
Oreto investigates the history of an ecosystem through a cataloged collection that shows the lasting effects of irresponsible city planning and increasing pollution. It illustrates the ways of seeing the visual complexities of the connection and balance between the foreign-infesting fauna and the few natural communities that survived.
Oreto embraces a careful awareness of attention to the subtle nuances that nurture a sensitivity to seeing, knowing, and representing the intimacies and rhythms of nature that may otherwise go unnoticed.
